Frequently asked questions about the Me-Mover

Working closely with physiotherapists and medical practitioners, we have developed the Me-Mover to become the best tool on the market for training balance, core and condition. The Me-Mover has several unique advantages:

  • Fun, motivating and flexible outdoor training with over 50 exercise routines
  • Unique and effective balance training
  • Back-friendly training
  • Very easy on joints and tendons
  • Lifts condition
  • Strengthens musculature
  • Eases pains and helps to prevent injuries to the back, neck, hips and knees
  • Strengthens the inner and outer core
  • Targeted training for legs, thighs, glutes, stomach and back

When measuring muscle activity in the lab, comparing various modes of Me-Mover training (normal pace, half pace, big steps, sprint, two legged jump etc.) against traditional exercises such as running, crunches, lunges, squats, biking, etc., researchers were amazed to see the number of muscles engaged, as well as the intensity of activity in the muscles. Using a Me-Mover combines high-intensity workout with ultra-low impact on your joints. You strengthen your legs, glutes, core, back, pectorals and even your arms. The G-force impact on your joints is radically lower on the Me-Mover than when running, and even lower than a walk. So you get not only a more effective full body workout- but also a safer one with radically lower risk of injuries.

The Me-Mover is equipped with a unique variable transmission. It is variable in the sense that the gearing at the top of the stroke – when the pedal is lifted to its highest position – is approximately 1/10 of the gearing in the bottom position. The upper third part of the stroke has as an average of about half the gearing of the bottom third of the stroke. This ensures not only that you can deliver full power to bring the Me-Mover forward even at high speeds, but also that you will be able to climb hills, using the upper region of the stroke, and thus in a lower gear, taking smaller, quicker steps. Check out our video demonstration here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5DacqYri-Wc

The Me-Mover’s unique variable transmission enables you to climb hills, using the upper region of the pedal stroke, and thus in a lower gear, taking smaller, quicker steps. It takes some practising to learn the technique, since it is adifferent approach, but it is once learned highly intuitive. Yet it is not a mountainbike. Indoor in a lab we measured 26 Km/h – 16 Mph at 6% incline just to give an indication. That example is a workout situation for an experienced rider. In real life we have climbed even steeper hills up and above 10% incline, but at lower speeds.

Check out our video on how to climb hills:

Every Me-Mover is designed as a modular system. So if you’d like to add any new options we’re developing – such as an electric motor or cargo loader – you don’t need to change your existing Me-Mover. Just buy the components you want and upgrade your current model.

Another advantage is that the transmission can be easily remove with a few screws and send for repair should the need occur. Furthermore, you will be able to upgrade your Me-Mover with future transmission designs.

The entire foot fits into the pedal. You pull up instead of pushing down as you would with an ordinary bike – just step on it as though you were climbing stairs. The pedal is about 20cm/8inches long and drops by itself after you lift it, enabling you to rest the weight of your body on the descending pedal rather than pressing down on the pedal. The pedals are large enough for just about any size of feet.

If you are looking for a fast and cheap way to get from A to B, you will find better alternatives on the market.  The Me-Mover has been designed and developed in Denmark and is classified in Europe as a bicycle, other places as a tricycle. The Me-Mover can be just as fast as a bicycle, but requires more effort, making it perfect for anyone wanting to get in shape, recover from an injury or reduce the risk of getting one.  The upright position is also greatly appreciated by people who have pain in their back. Thanks to its three-wheel design, people in almost every adult age group can ride a Me-Mover offering greater stability than a bicycle.

There’s another important difference, too: Your back, arms, and neck remain stationary while you are cycling. With Me-Mover, your body constantly adjusts its position, leaning into every curve or corner and working your core as you strive to stay in balance. That’s not only good for your body, but fun, too!

In short: If you have balance issues, prefer to exercise outdoors, have to undergo a recovery process after an injury or just seek the everyday thrill with an outdoor trip, the Me-Mover will not disappoint.

Yes, we have an exercise guide manual where you will find information like how to use Me-Mover including benefits, Tips & Tricks  and other useful information about the Me-Mover. You can check the exercise manual on this (click here link).

Assembling your Me-Mover

The user manuals are an important document for getting the most out of your Me-Mover Fit, Me-Mover speed and the Me-Mover Hometrainer. It also contains important safety, performance and maintenance information. We urge you to read the manuals prior to riding our product. Please visit our Youtube channel for assembly videos and guides.

The Me-Mover comes semi-assembled. You need to connect the front column with one bolt, mount the mudguard and bottleholder and finally attach the handlebar with both brake wires. Please check out our Youtube assembly guide. (click here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i1OSdzWcPiA  )

If you continue to struggle, we can give you a call or schedule a live conference video if you like.

The front brake goes to the left side, and the rear brake goes to the right-hand side according to European standards.

We assemble and test all Me-Movers prior to shipping. You might therefore encounter smaller marks on the grips, folding mechanism, tires and brake system. Some bolts might also be affected by that. This is necessary due to the very tight tolerances and to ensure every product meets our quality requirements. If you encounter any other severe scratches during the unboxing process, please report this to us, with images and a detailed written description. Send an email to support@me-mover.com.

The bolt connecting the frame to the front column can be a little tight to fit. Try moving it in while rocking the frame lightly back and forth. If it gets stuck, turn it with the allen key and push inward until it fetches the thread of the other side. See the instruction video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i1OSdzWcPiA

It is very important to fine-tune the transmission as the last step when assembling the Me-Mover. Here the wheels should be perpendicular to the ground and align vertically to the steering column.

If you struggle, please contact support@me-mover.com

When starting to ride – take it easy. Starting on flat ground, check all functions. Check the front and rear brakes and whether the transmissions are securely and tightly fitted to each side of the Me-mover. And remember, do not lean backwards or attempt jumps with the Me-Mover. Please check our instruction video for more information:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lHIp773YCBA&t=1s

A maximum height of 198 cm (6`6″) and maximum weight of 100kg (220) pounds is recommended, although the Me-Mover is tested up to 120kg (260 pounds). We also recommend a minimum weight of 30kg (66 lbs).

The Me-Mover is equipped with a fully automatic gearing system. There’s no need to engage or change gears at all.  Depending on how high you lift the pedal, the variable gearing system will adjust its gearing ratio automatically. The transmission does look simple at first but it is a master piece of Danish engineering. It consists of more than 150 components each driven by 3 chains and a one-way clutch. The only thing that requires regular maintainance are the chains, like on any other bicycle.

Depending on the pedal stroke and pedal position you use on the Me-Mover, you can access different gear levels. For example, you’ve got heavy gearing at the bottom of the pedal stroke and lighter gearing at the top range. Check out our video on how the transmission works: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5DacqYri-Wc

The Me-Mover uses high quality components, primarily made out of aluminum. Most design components are custom made to not only make this product truly unique looking but also to give a special riding experience. We use T6 alloy, the very same used in applications where high strength to low weight ratios are critical, such as the aircraft and aerospace industries. Engineered in Denmark and Germany, the Me-Mover is today primarily assembled in Copenhagen, Denmark with the exception of a few versions, which originate from China. Every Me-Mover sold is managed, quality controlled and monitored by the Danish Headquarter to ensure all quality standards are the same.

The Me-Mover weighs about 23 kg to ensure stability and sturdiness. It is built to last and should not be mistaken for a cheap scooter.

The Me-Mover has a very simple folding mechanism that takes just a few seconds to fold! See this video for an explanation of how to do it.

Everyone can ride the Me-Mover, and almost anyone can learn to ride it well. That’s because, while it may look difficult, the Me-Mover has three wheels, making it inherently stable compared with a bike. When you get on it for the first time, you’ll probably feel it is a little unstable – but that’s just the flexibility that you will soon come to love! Riding a Me-Mover like a boss, however, leaning into the curves and picking up the speed takes a bit of practice. So if that’s your goal, be a little patient while you wait to master the techniques!

The Me-Mover may look a little like a bike or scooter, but there is a world of difference in its design and functionality (as well as the materials with which it is constructed). One of the reasons why it is priced significantly higher than a typical bike are the uniquely designed, Danish-engineered automatic transmissions – one on either side – that enable you to move forward with minimal impact on the joints. A tremendous amount of work has gone into perfecting these. Each comprises 150 separate components, and together, they are the motor for your body to get the most efficient, most injury-free and most fun workout you’ve ever experienced!

It all depends on the user. Generally, the Me-Mover’s speed ranges from regular walking speed to fast cycling speed (0-25 mph / 0-30 km/h), with the Me-Mover Speed 2021 Edition being markedly faster than a Me-Mover 2.3. Once you’ve gotten the hang of it, you will have no trouble keeping up with the flow on the bike path.

We have used a lot of effort and tests to develop a simple, yet functional and safe footstrap. The foot strap is easily adjusted with an adjustment screw, and is open on one side so you can easily hop off your Me-Mover in a tricky situation.

We have designed a specific loop in the centerblock for the lock, enabling you to use an ordinary cable-lock for bicycles and lock it to a fixed object. Loop the chain through the centreblock and the front wheel, and then secure it to an immovable object. It’s a good idea to engage the parking brake, too!

The Me-Mover has a very simple folding mechanism that takes just a few seconds to fold! See this video for an explanation of how to do it.

It can indeed. You can use a backpack or purchase one of our light-weight front racks that can carry a load of up to 15kg (34 pounds).

Maintenance and repair

For minor repairs, use the Me-Mover FIT online user manual as an instruction guide. To get a list of repairs that you can do at home, please find the relevant section in the Contents on page 2 within the guide. If there is something you cannot fix, please get in contact with either Me-Mover at support@me-mover.com or your dealer. In the case of major breakage or damage to the frame or main parts, you must contact us at support@me-mover.com or your local dealer for further instructions.

The user manuals are an important document for getting the most out of your Me-Mover Fit, Me-Mover speed and the Me-Mover Hometrainer. It also contains important safety, performance and maintenance information. We recommend to read the manuals.

Pump the tires to 5 bars or 72 psi (pounds per square inch) for best performance and riding experience.

Me-Mover FIT models use a standard tire that should be able to be found locally – if not in store the bike shop could order it home. We use Komda, Michelin (diabolo) or Schwalbe (marathon plus) 12.5 x 2-5″. Make sure you specify high-pressure tires (~4 Bar +50 Psi).

Easy to learn and use, the Me-Mover is also a breeze to maintain. The advanced, multi-speed transmission is neatly sealed away, and can be serviced by any bike shop. We have an in-depth online user manual with in-depth guidelines on maintenance & reparations. Visit our Support Center to access these resources.

You can do that online. Simply go to the registration page and enter the information required.

Safety

The three-wheeled design makes the Me-Mover a comparatively stable vehicle. It is safer than, for instance, a bicycle since: a) You are driving it in an upright position, and have far better overview of the surroundings and traffic, b) You can easily get off the Me-Mover, even when in motion (there is no frame hindering the movement of the legs or feet), and c) it is three-wheeled, which makes it safer to drive when wet than a normal bicycle and less prone to topple over. In fact, Me-Mover’s unique three-wheel design is so stable that you never have to dismount, even at stop lights. Perfect for sight-seeing!

We’ve designed the Me-Mover to be as safe as possible under normal use, and have included special safety features found nowhere else. That said, no matter how well you ride, you share the road with others who may not be so responsible. Remember that, just as with any vehicle, it is possible get hurt. Wear a helmet at all times, and stay aware of weather, road conditions, and everyone and everything around you. Also, bear in mind that this is a transit and fitness tool, optimized for travel on fairly level terrain. The Me-Mover is not designed for trick riding or steep hills.

Additionally, Me-Movers have been thoroughly tested for continued safe use, in lab and in real-life usage. We have a test rig where the transmission, for example, has been tested for two years of simulated real life usage at maximum force without breakdowns or service. It has also been proven that the Me-Mover operates with incredibly low impact on the ankles, knees, hips and spine.

Any unapproved modification to the Me-Mover can make it unsafe to use and void your warranty. A component that is not approved or assembly that is not correct can put high stress on your Me-Mover FIT or components. A frame, fork, or component with modifications could decrease your control and cause you to fall. Do not sand, drill, file, remove secondary retention devices, install incompatible forks, or make other modifications. Before you add an accessory to your Me-Mover or change a part of your Me-Mover, consult your dealer or contact support@me-mover.com to confirm that it is compatible and safe.

Although you can learn to ride the Me-Mover in minutes, don’t ride on challenging terrain or in dense traffic areas until you have had plenty of practice and feel you have 100% control of the Me-Mover. It is your own responsibility to practice sufficiently on the Me-Mover before entering crowded areas. Always wear protective gear, such as a helmet and protective pads. And, of course, never ride the Me-Mover while intoxicated.

The ergonomic stepping motion is very gentle on the knees, and great for someone recovering from knee injury. So, although riding a Me-Mover is a high-intensity workout, the soft landing protects your joints, and has less impact even than walking!

Depending on the country or state you live in, you may be legally obligated to wear a helmet. Please check your local road laws before riding your Me-Mover.

If you need to package your Me-Mover for travel, always use a hard case or carton for protection. Attach pads to all the frame and fork tubes, and use a rigid block to protect the fork tips and maintain structural support for the fork blades. If the Me-Mover is not packaged correctly it could be easily damaged in transit. Therefore, it can be a good idea to save the box your Me-Mover was shipped in for future use.

Warranty

We always ship your product as soon as possible. Most products will arrive within 4-10 business days and tracking information will be provided to you upon dispatch. Please contact info@me-mover.com for the latest update.

Warranty Conditions: Every Me-Mover comes with a limited, two-year warranty on the frame and main parts: rear frame, front fork, steering column, transmission, pedal arms, and pedals. This warranty, however, excludes wear-and-tear parts and applies only to original owners ( not transferrable). This warranty expires two years from the date of delivery and is conditional upon the Me-Mover being operated under normal conditions and use, and with proper maintenance.

Your Me-Mover has been designed for general transportation and recreational use, but has not been designed to withstand abuse associated with doing stunts and jumping. That’s why the warranty ceases when you rent, sell or give away the Me-Mover, or ride with more than one person. It does not cover ordinary wear and tear or anything you break accidentally or deliberately. And it does not apply to malfunctions or failures that result from abuse, neglect, improper assembly, improper maintenance, alteration, collision, crash, accident or misuse. Nor does the warranty apply if the original owner uses the Me-Mover for other than its intended purpose. This warranty does not apply to paint, finish and component parts such as brake grips, brake cables, brakes (caliper, pads, and brake disc) brake handles, tyres, chains, anti-slip stickers, plastic covers, and mud guards. It is the responsibility of the individual consumer purchaser to assure that all parts included in the shipment box are adjusted properly and fully functional, and subsequent normal maintenance services and adjustments necessary are performed to keep the Me-Mover in good operating condition.

The contact person for warranty claims is the dealer from whom the Me-Mover was purchased. If purchased in the Me-Mover web-shop, please contact Me-Mover directly via support@me-mover.com.
